Why Tea Tree Oil is Great for Getting Rid of Toenail Fungus.

Tea tree oil is a natural anti-septic. It is also has properties which are anti-bacterial, and anti-viral. It is also a natural disinfectant.

Tea tree oil has long been in used for healing wounds, and it fights infections due to its anti-septic qualities which are also effective against fungi and bacteria. It is also applied as treatment for skin infections, burns and other conditions that cause infection.

How  to Use Tea Tree Oil for Toenail Fungus

Before starting a tea tree oil toenail fungus regimen you should access you tolerance to tea tree oil. Tea tree oil can be a pretty harsh substance so before applying it’s recommended that you dilute it by mixing it with a little bit of olive oil.

To use tea tree oil for toenail fungus I recommend doing the following.

  • Take a medical dropper and drip a few droplets of oil on each infected toe.
  • Make sure that the oil gets onto the nail bed and nail cuticle.
  • Allow the oil to sit on the infected nail for at least 25 minutes minutes.
  • Once this time is up wipe off all the oil.
  • Do this at least twice a day everyday.

The trick here is to let the oil sit the nail cuticle and nail bed.

Rather than using a cotton swap dipped in the oils and then spreading it on you toes what you’ll want to do instead in to allow the droplets of oil lay on top of your nail cuticle and the nail bed. Some of the oil may roll off so you may want to have something under your toes to soak up the excess.

If you have thick toenails tea tree oil will work better if you trim down as much of the toenail as possible. It also helps to cut and trim your toenail cuticles.

A few other essential oils for toenail fungus are oil of oregano and coconut oil.

There are a few alternatives to using tea tree oil for toe fungus. Oil of oregano is a simple concentration and been known to have powerful anti-fungal properties. It has also been shown to be anti-septic, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitical. When using oil of oregano I recommend mixing it with olive oil and using a medical dropper. Simple follow the same steps as with the tea tree oil.

Coconut Oil for Toenail Fungus

Another alternative is to use coconut oil for toenail fungus. Coconut oil is a gentler option when it come to essential oils for toenail fungus.

Coconut oil comes in two forms. One is a liquid the other another is looks like a white paste. To use coconut oil for toenail fungus I recommend the paste form.

  • Apply the paste onto each infected toenail before going to bed
  • Wipe off the oil in the morning.

“How long will it take to completely get rid of the infection?”

Depending on the severity of your infection along with other factors like how consistent you are with regiment and how many other remedies you are using, essential oils for toenail fungus can take up to six months completely get rid of the infection. When using tea tree oil and toenail fungus treatments is very important that you stick to your regiment and not skip any days.
